Its beaches offer a mix of swimming-friendly shores and top surf spots.
Surrounded by hills with panoramic views, Kuta’s beaches range from developed areas with cafes and surf schools to quieter, untouched shores. Here are my favorite beaches in the area.

Kuta Beach
Kuta Beach is the most accessible and central beach in Kuta Lombok, offering a long stretch of white sand and calm waters, perfect for an easy trip to the beach from the many great hotels and hostels nearby.
Although it’s one of the more developed beaches, with plenty of warungs and surf schools along the shore, it still maintains a relaxed vibe. The beach is popular for sunset walks, and while the reef extends far out, the waters are shallow, making it more suitable for wading than swimming.
- How to get there: Kuta Beach is in the heart of Kuta town, easily accessible by foot or motorbike from most accommodations.
- Great for: Sunset strolls, beachside snacks, and a starting point for exploring nearby beaches.
Tanjung Aan Beach
Tanjung Aan Beach is one of Kuta Lombok’s most famous beaches, known for its stunning white sand and crystal-clear waters.
The beach is divided into two main sections: a calmer side ideal for swimming and a side with small, consistent waves perfect for beginner surfers. The nearby Bukit Merese Hill offers one of the best viewpoints on the island, especially for sunrise and sunset. The beach is also dotted with local warungs where you can enjoy a fresh coconut or local meal.
- How to get there: A 15-minute motorbike ride from Kuta Lombok town along Jl. Sengkol, following signs to Tanjung Aan.

Seger Beach
Seger Beach, located just 5 minutes from Kuta Lombok, is a small but picturesque beach known for its nearby hill, Bukit Seger, which offers panoramic views of the coastline.
Although close by, this beach is more tranquil than Kuta Beach, and while not great for swimming due to its rocky seabed, it’s perfect for relaxing in the sun. There’s also a local warung where you can grab a cold coconut after climbing the hill for a beautiful sunset view.
- How to get there: A 5-minute motorbike ride east of Kuta Lombok, following the coastal road towards Pantai Seger.
- Great for: Scenic views, sunsets from Bukit Seger, and quiet relaxation.
Serenting Beach
Serenting Beach is a hidden gem located just past Seger Beach, offering a quiet stretch of white sand and clear waters.
Once the site of an abandoned resort, it now provides a peaceful escape, far from the more crowded beaches. Serenting Beach is a fantastic place for a swim, and its remoteness makes it feel like your own private oasis. You’ll often find this beach empty, making it a great spot to unwind after visiting the nearby Seger Beach.

- Great for: Seclusion, swimming, and relaxing away from the crowds.

Mawun Beach is a quiet, horseshoe-shaped bay surrounded by rocky hills, just a 15-minute ride from Kuta Lombok. This secluded beach is known for its crystal-clear, turquoise water and soft, white sand, making it an ideal spot for swimming. Although it is quite sheltered, so there are hardly ever any waves off the beach (you have to paddle out a bit to get a decent break)
The hills on either side of the bay provide natural shelter from the wind, creating calm waters perfect for a relaxing dip. Unlike some of the busier beaches, Mawun maintains a peaceful, laid-back vibe, with just a few local warungs offering refreshments.
- How to get there: A 15-minute motorbike ride west of Kuta Lombok along Jl. Mawun.
