Malimbu Hill is a coastal headland viewpoint in Lombok that is known as one of the best Senggigi sunset locations. The main hill is a grassy clearing dotted with scattered palm trees and overlooks the ocean towards the Gili Islands.

How to Get to Malimbu Hill (Bukit Malimbu)

When asked where the best Senggigi sunset viewpoint is, a common answer you'll get is Malimbu Hill. However, at first glance on Google, you might be a little confused as to where the actual location is.

The official Malimbu Hill is the highest headland point, on the south side of Malimbu Beach near the famous Malimbu Cliff Villa.

It's marked on Google Maps as Bukit Malimbu, which actually translates directly to "Malimbu Hill". This is a wide parking area on the bend, with views out to sea and onto Malimbu Beach.

However, on the other side of Malimbu Beach is another viewpoint, which is known as both Malimbu Cliff or Malaka Hill. In my opinion, this hill, although not as high as the southern, official side, is an even better viewpoint since you can walk out onto the grassy, palm-covered hill to watch the sunset.

I've pinned both Senggigi sunset viewpoints on the map below to help you find them. It should take about 15 minutes to ride here from the Senggigi beaches, taking the winding coastal road north.

Malimbu Hill Viewpoint

Once you arrive and park your motorbike or car, you can walk out to the concrete path to get sweeping views of the ocean and Malimbu Beach.

Since this is the highest headland on the Senggigi coast, it's a perfect place to watch the boats glide past and watch the sun disappear behind the horizon.

Also, there's a family of monkeys that live here at Bukit Malimbu. You'll often find them from the viewpoint chilling in the palm trees at the edge of the cliff.

Malimbu Cliff Viewpoint

On the northern side of Malimbu Beach is Malimbu Cliff. However, most people actually refer to this hill viewpoint when they mention Malimbu Hill. In my opinion, this is the better viewpoint, and probably my favorite Senggigi sunset location.

There is adequate space for parking both a car and a motorbike. If you visit during sunset, then you'll need to pay 2000 IDR to park your bike.

On the left side, you'll see Malimbu Beach and the Malimbu viewpoint. On the other side, you'll have a glimpse of the spectacular, Nipah Beach and the Gili Islands poking out on the horizon.

Best Senggigi Sunset Location - Palm Tree Hill

For the best sunset views, walk down past the stall merchants and onto the grassy hill with oddly dotted palm trees. This section of Malimbu Hill is mostly cleared, offering sweeping sea views. This is also a great spot to grab some iconic Senggigi sunset photos.

Also, if you walk down to the edge of the cliff, there's a path that leads a little further down where you'll find your own secluded area to watch the sunset.
