As you might expect, La Digue is a small island, located within the inner islands of the Seychelles. It’s a very popular destination to visit for its famous beaches with crystal clear waters and magnificent granite formations, as well as its many nature trails and unique, endemic wildlife.
Therefore, it’s certainly worth staying at least a night or two on the island if you want to get the most out of your visit.
For an island of only 3.9 square miles in size (9.9km²), you’ll find that La Dique has a huge selection of hotels and resorts to choose from. In terms of choosing the best area or region for where to stay, this isn’t too important on La Digue. That’s because you can get almost anywhere on the island within 30 minutes by bicycle.
However, if you’re looking to stay as central as possible, then the main tourist hub of La Digue is on the west side of the island near the jetty. This comprises of two adjacent villages called L’Union and La Passe. Here, visitors will find a variety of hotels, luxury resorts and self-catering lodges to choose from. This region is also within walking distance to highlights like the L’Union Estate and the incredible Anse Source D’Argent.
