FAQ and Things to Know Before Visiting Malta
Which is the best part of Malta to Stay?
I don't think there's a 'best' part of Malta to stay. It depends on your travel preferences! For sightseeing and history, Valletta is ideal. For beaches and family fun, Mellieha Bay is great, while Sliema and St. Julian's offer nightlife and a convenient base for exploring the nearby islands. Gozo is great for those seeking adventure away from Malta's mainland.
When should I book my Malta accommodation?
Malta is a popular travel destination year-round, especially during summer. Book well in advance. Give yourself even more time if you plan to visit during peak season!
What is the best time of year to visit Malta?
Malta is beautiful year-round. But for the best weather and fewer crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of spring (April-May) or autumn (September-October). On my visit in summer, I found it to be extremely hot and crowded.
How do I get around Malta?
Public transport is very affordable and fairly reliable, especially on the main island of Malta. I found Renting a car provided more flexibility, especially when I was exploring Gozo. For trips to Gozo and Comino, ferries are the most common option.
What language do they speak in Malta?
Maltese and English. English is widely spoken, making it easy for tourists to communicate on their travels.
