What I discovered about the famous Ao Nang night market in Krabi, Thailand. Learn how to get here and which Thai street food stalls to visit!
The famous Ao Nang Night Market is one of the best places to visit in the evening at Ao Nang Beach.
Whether you’re looking for the best Thai street food stalls, or just a place to grab a drink and listen to live music, the night markets are where it’s at!
During my stay in Ao Nang, I visited the night markets several times and it’s one of my favorite places to eat as I couldn’t resist the Tom Yum and delicious chicken skewers.
In this guide, I’ll give you a rundown of how to get here, what to expect, and some tips on choosing the best stalls!
About the Ao Nang Landmark Night Market
The largest night market in Ao Nang is called the Ao Nang Landmark Night Market, or "Nightlife Street". It's part of the Ao Nang Landmark project, situated across the road from the ocean at Noppharat Thara Beach.
The market has expanded into a larger space within the same beachfront complex near Noppharat Thara. It's the same spot as before, just bigger and more spread out, with a lot more room to move than it had a few years ago.
- It's now a more open layout and expanded food court and entertainment areas.
- The new layout includes a mix of covered and uncovered seating areas, with more outdoor tables near the Muay Thai ring and new seating along the walking paths.
- There is now expanded parking behind the Landmark complex and along side streets. The area is less congested than before due to this improved layout (but I still park at the 7/11 as it's the most convenient).
The market is open every day, Monday to Sunday from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
It opens at 4:00 pm, but in my opinion I wouldn't bother turning up that early. Plenty of stalls are still firing up their grills until around 6:00 pm, so aim for 6:00 pm onward when the food's all going and the crowd and live music kick in.
As far as night markets in Thailand go, it's by no means the biggest. It's smaller than the famous Krabi market. However, there are plenty of food stalls to choose from, with a bar and nightly live performances by international and local Thai musicians!
The main food stall area is also undercover, which means it's a great place to go to eat when it's raining. While it is busy, there is a downstairs and an upstairs seating area where you can eat and enjoy the scene.
Good to know: The food selection while priced for tourists, is not too expensive.

Book a Krabi Night Street Food Tour
If you want to visit the best markets in Krabi, you'll want to check out the Krabi Night Market on Walking Street in Krabi Town.
Just know the Krabi Town market only runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, so time your visit if that's the one you're after. It's about a 30-minute drive from Ao Nang.

For those staying in Ao Nang, the most convenient way to get here is to book the popular Krabi Street Food Tour, which includes group pickup from the hotels in Ao Nang Beach.
Where is the Night Market in Ao Nang?
The Ao Nang Landmark Night Market is situated on Noppharat Thara Beach, directly adjacent to the large KFC. It's very easy to walk here from Ao Nang Beach, taking around 15-20 minutes, or less than 5 minutes on a motorbike or scooter.
If you don't fancy the walk, a Grab or tuk-tuk from the main Ao Nang strip runs about 80 to 90 THB (around US$3) and takes under five minutes. You can also flag down a songthaew (the shared pickup trucks) heading that way for a lot less. From the far end of the main beach strip the walk is closer to 30 minutes, so I'd grab a ride over after dark rather than hoof it both ways.

Arriving at the markets you'll immediately know you're at the right place as you'll see all the people sitting down eating outside.

How Much Food and Drinks Cost at the Ao Nang Night Market
The market is cheap by Western standards, though prices sit a notch above a local Thai market since most customers here are tourists. Here's roughly what I'd budget per item (prices in Thai baht, with a rough US$ guide):
- Thai mains like pad thai or a noodle bowl: 70 to 100 THB (around US$2 to US$3)
- Chicken or pork skewers: about 100 THB for five (around US$3)
- Mango sticky rice or a Thai dessert: 20 to 60 THB (under US$2)
- Rolled ice cream: 100 THB (around US$3)
- Roti pancake with banana and chocolate: around 60 THB (under US$2)
- Wood-fired pizza or other Western mains: 200 to 220 THB (around US$6 to US$7)
- A small Chang or Singha beer from the bar: 70 to 80 THB (around US$2 to US$2.50)
One thing worth knowing before you sit down: every drink has to come from the central bar, not the food stalls. The seating splits into a "beer zone" by the bar and "free zones" for everyone else. If you park yourself at a bar table, you're expected to order a drink there rather than bring a smoothie over from a stall, so grab a free-zone table if you're just eating.
My Experience & What to Expect at the Ao Nang Night Market
You can expect to find many Thai street food stalls, International cuisine, clothes, and souvenir markets.
Below are insights from my visits with photos and tips for the best places to eat!
Travel tip: there is free parking available on the road opposite the markets. However, as it can get busy during the evenings, you'll find more motorbike parking near KFC or the 7-Eleven, as well as an official parking area behind the markets.
Thai Street Food Stalls
The best area for food stalls is the western end. This is the main, covered area with many street food stalls.
You'll find a mix of restaurant-style vendors serving everything from BBQ meats to spicy curries, as well as typical Thai street food such as Som Tam Thai (papaya salad), Mango sticky rice, and Thai pancakes.

If you're up for a great Tom Yum, I highly recommend the small stall just opposite the sushi vendor.
There are also great chicken satay skewer vendors just a few stalls down. You can also grab a delicious Thai milk tea from the Thai pancake stall directly opposite.

While I didn't try it, I've been told that you can also get the best grilled fish at these night markets. There's also plenty of fresh seafood available, and even somebody selling exotic meats like crocodile– if that's your thing.

International Food
Along with the popular Thai food options, you'll find plenty of international vendors as well. The most popular include the Indian restaurant at the entrance, the sushi stall, the pizza spot, and the delicious Japanese okonomiyaki stall.

The price of the international food at the street market is similar to what you'd pay at the restaurants in town. Some things are quite expensive, and can even be similar to what you pay in your home country.
However, it's all about exploring and finding those hidden gems!

Tip: The entertainment here is the real draw, and it's all free. A live band or solo singer plays the main stage by the bar most nights, and on weekends there's usually a fire show near the seating area (sit back a row if you'd rather not be near the sparks). The market backs right onto the William Muaythai Ao Nang Landmark Indoor Stadium, and on fight nights, usually Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, a couple of that evening's boxers throw a short preview bout in a small ring by the bar for tips. Grab a table near the main road and you can eat with the show going on in front of you.
More Market Shopping
While my trips to the Ao Nang Night Market were for the food, travelers will also find a wide range of typical tourist stalls on the outside of the main food area.
These vendors sell everything from Thai hippy pants to hand-carved trinkets and beautiful paintings.

Are There More Night Markets in Ao Nang?
The largest and best night market at Ao Nang Beach is the "Ao Nang Landmark Night Market" on Noppharat Thara Beach. However, there are some other smaller markets in town as well, including:

- Night Market Place - another small market with food stalls and vendors selling tourist products on the corner between the 7-Eleven and Blackbox bar on the main road north of Ao Nang Beach.
- Ao Nang Night Plaza - a small food market with around 10 stalls located on the main strip in Ao Nang, across the road from Family Tattoo
