Where to Stay in Ubud, Bali: My Favorite Hotels & Resorts

Olly Gaspar

By Olly Gaspar, full-time traveler for 6 years. I visit every place I write about & share real tips, photos, & advice from my trips.

Avoid the crowds in Kuta and enjoy the jungle vibes of Ubud for a quieter, more relaxed stay.

Just a 1.5-hour drive from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ubud has quickly become one of Bali’s top destinations to stay, especially for travelers looking for a calm and relaxing location.

Ubud is a great place to stay if you enjoy tropical hikes like Campuhan Ridge, exploring rice fields, and relaxing at yoga retreats. The four main areas to stay in are Tegallalang, Ubud Center, Monkey Forest, and Penestanan.

You’ll want to base yourself in Ubud for at least 3-4 days to explore the landscapes, visit nearby temples like Pura Tirta Empul, and immerse yourself in cultural experiences that make the area so unique.

Best Areas to Stay in Ubud

Despite its small size, Ubud offers a surprising variety of neighborhoods that cater to a range of travel styles and budgets.
