Thank you so much for this helpful and well written information! I'm wondering if you can give me some feedback on hotels. I am a female in my 40s traveling alone, so I want ease of getting around and also meeting people. Blue smart caught my eye (hello workout room and adults only!), but looking at the map, it looks a little isolated. Like you have to walk all the way around to get to the restaurants? Thoughts? I also liked De Loft but thought it might be too far from the beach for something like an easy sunset walk. What are your thoughts? I won't have a car and am used to walking. Have you been to Sugar Marina Cliffhanger or Krabi Tipa resort? They look possibly more central, and other than mixed reviews, they seem clean. I was originally set on a private room in a couple other hostels to be more social but have been reading about noise and lack of security, etc, which I just don't want to deal with. And the social activities are likely geared to a much younger crowd? I'd love your thoughts and opinions on this. Thank you so much!

Hey Heather, BlueSotel SMART looks isolated on the map, but in real life it’s a two-minute walk to the north end of the beach and another five along the sand-side footpath to the main food strip. Rooftop pool, little gym, adults-only vibe—easy place to bump into other solo travelers.
De Loft sits inland near the market; from memory I think it's a 15-minute flat walk to the water.
Sugar Marina Cliffhanger is halfway up the hill behind town. Ten minutes to the beach, in that area there are cafés all around, a nice cliff backdrop, and the pool bar pulls a mixed crowd.
Krabi Tipa is practically on the sand—three-minute stroll tops—and the leafy grounds mean it feels calm even when it’s busy. In my opinion this is the easiest option if you want zero thought between beach, room, and dinner.
Security-wise, this is Thailand, and Ao Nang’s very chill you won't have any issues, I suggest not overthinking it and enjoy your trip!
